Ballacregga Corn Mill is open 7 days a week serving excellent food and drinks. Close to Laxey Wheel, the building offers a mix of heritage and tea rooms.
Ballacregga is run by Martin and Catherine who took over the business in February 2023.
Not only is the cafe open 7 days a week, serving breakfast, coffee, lunch, homemade scones, sausage rolls, cakes and traybakes, but we also offer outside catering, wedding catering, private catering and dinners as well as functions in our Tartan room. We always try to use local suppliers like Teare butchers, Robinsons, Isle of Man creamery, Davisons and Coffee Mann.
Martin Doyle
Martin has over 40 years’ experience in the catering and hospitality business in the 1980’s he had the privilege of cooking for the queen on a visit to his hometown of Lowestoft, in the 90’s whilst travelling and working in Cornwall he worked some events for and with his hero Rick Stein and more recently has done a number of events and cooking for the family Christmas lunch of Piers Morgan on numerous occasions.
Martin has worked in most areas of hospitality and catering including running hotels and pubs, head chef at Brighton racecourse, Sussex county cricket ground, Fontwall park racecourse, catering manager at a Prestigious private school and a wedding and events catering business where he ran and catered for 100,s of weddings/events from 6 people to 1000.
Martin is also an NVQ assessor and trainer and can teach food safety, allergens and health and safety as well as running cooking school’s and cooking parties from 4 year olds through to adults.
Also he spent some time as a freelance Manager, Chef, Trainer and Consultant travelling the southeast of England to various catering establishments, schools and hospitality businesses working short contracts, troubleshooting, training and consulting as well as dinner parties in private homes.
Outside work Martin has travelled to over 40 countries, been a school Governor, president of a rotary club, charity fundraiser, chairman of a rugby club as well as running a London RFU league.

We cater for any event and any occasion, we have over 35 years of experience in wedding and event catering as well as private dining.
Whether its in a marquee, village hall, private home or any other venue, we supply bespoke menus for any occasion and budget.
Afternoon Teas & Grazing Platters
Prebook 48 hours in advance for a special occasion or or just a treat. These can be served in-house or packaged to takeaway.
